Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns the final policy manual?
Your organization does, fully and outright. YSO Partners facilitates the drafting process, but every policy reflects decisions your leadership and staff made together. Once delivered, the manual belongs to you, with no ongoing licensing fee or dependency on YSO Partners to use it.
Do we need to complete Policy Assessment first?
No. Some organizations start here directly, especially if they already know their policies need a full rebuild. If you are not sure how deep the gaps run, the Policy Assessment first can help scope the engagement more precisely.
How much staff time does this engagement require?
More than Policy Assessment, since the manual gets built through working sessions rather than interviews alone. Expect leadership and relevant department staff to participate in input sessions throughout the engagement, typically a few hours every few weeks.
Does the policy manual cover mandatory reporting and disclosure procedures?
Yes. A complete policy manual addresses mandatory reporting obligations, disclosure response protocols, documentation standards, and the accountability structures your organization needs. Every section reflects your sector, whether that is a school, a camp, or a congregation.
What is implementation guidance, specifically?
It is the plan for introducing the new manual to your staff that includes how to roll it out, train on it, and answer the questions staff will have when policies change. A policy manual that the staff is trained on increases the likelihood of being followed.
Does this replace Tier 1, Policy Assessment?
Not exactly. Policy Development includes a gap analysis if you have not already completed one but basically assumes a complete re-do of your policy manual. If you have already completed Policy Assessment, this engagement builds directly on those findings.
